🌞An illustration on kindness 🍀

To my dear readers ,

I am taking the time to connect with you all and the topic I choose for this month is  the significance of words that add  goodness comfort and wellness in our day to day living

In the work that I do each day with children and young people -using the right vocabulary is transformative in fostering an environment that is all about being kind , being calm, feeling safe

🌞Compassion 💫

Let’s delve into the rationale for the choice of there 3 words

The facts

Kindness :

  1. Kindness is regulatory in itself
  2. Science indicates when one engages in kindness, the autonomous nervous system relaxes and helps one to feel centred
  3. Ten core function of the brain is relational – so engaging in kindness allows for children and young people to have an understanding on the norms of appropriate interpersonal connections

So teaching our next generation kindness – is about modelling kindness , having visuals of what kindness looks like  , celebrating kindness in little and big ways

🦋Nature at her best 💛

Calm :

  1. The art of using emotional regulation and The joy of being calm – comes to those who engage in regular breathwork practice or acts of fitness .
  2. Emotional regulation is integral to brain health and physical health
  3. Facilitating pathways to understand and identity what calm looks like and feels like – is an essential component of emotional intelligence

Helping our young learners to know cqlm comes from using the vocabulary , visualizing  and teaching them that calm can be experienced from within through excercise and breathwork

Calm can also be experienced through exposure to nature – to art – to books – to music and colours of the sea and the sky

💫Expressive meditation🍀

Safe :

  1. Safety is paramount for individuals to function effectively – Science indicates that the function of the brainstem is to feel safe –
  2. Feelings  of safety – helps us to feel connected to ourselves
  3. Feelings of safety facilitates for belonging and readiness to connect – learn and to engage

It is imperative to teach our very young that values of being safe and feeling safe – safety is a value that can add physical comfort – wellness , it is also an internal value that paves the way towards crafting a reality that is about belonging – connections and resilience

Our homes and the world we live in full of happenings – and occurrences

The happenings- impact on feelings snd emotions – therefore

Language and easy to use wellness words allow us to grapple with the depth of it all

And on that note I am finishing with a Rumi quote that resonates with serenity

“ Life is a balance between holding on and letting go “

🍀Belonging & Balance 💫

With much love 🤗
